The Power of Personalization |

A little charisma can often go a long way when establishing business relationships, but charisma is a nebulous thing.
I know several smiley people who are smiley and outgoing, and if I could get away with it I would happily end their perky lives because they are just that annoying. Likewise, I have met some of the most somber and reserved people – statues really – and yet I enjoy spending hours and hours in their presence. So what is it that makes a person charismatic? Try the ability of making you feel important.
There are scores of books and essays that coach networkers to use a person’s name. There are whole volumes written talking about the importance of eye contact and listening, and other skills that have nothing to do with conversation, and everything to do with personalization. A good communicator can keep you entertained, but an effective communicator makes you feel special; important. When they listen to you, it seems as if their whole being is focused just on you, and when they do speak they use your name and sends a chill of pleasure that this person remembered you. Imagine taking that feeling into the workplace, and imagine giving it to your clients. Would it surprise you if they came back to you again and again?
