Loyalty plays a major part in B-to-C businesses and is a huge reason why a lot of people choose to not run their own company. Loyalty comes in many levels and to gain loyalty, you have to be able to do what matters most to the customers the best when in a B-to-C business. The best of future retailers will create sensations in the heart of the customer, creating an emotional connection between customer and brand. To get a unified image of the brand into the heads of your customers is a great thing. If you are unable to achieve these things, the shoppers will just go somewhere else; probably to a competitor of yours that is reaching customers emotions.
When B-to-B businesses are unhappy they can just switch suppliers with the blink of an eye because it’s all about business. Companies don’t allow emotions to tell them which supplier to buy from; they go for the best price. It’s strictly business on this end. B-to-B companies have advertisements in trade periodicals or they have mailings sent directly to other businesses. They highlight the benefits and show that their product solves a problem just like companies do with consumer advertising . B-to-B companies operate on a much larger scale though, so quality and cost consideration go beyond just the product being purchased, they deal with everything related to doing business together.
All those things make B-to-B companies more rational because they don’t let emotions get involved. If you want your own business, then this is something you’re going to have to provide to make the figures you want. A B-to-B business would never pay $10 more per item because they felt good doing it. They’re dealing in such large quantities and small time frames that feelings can’t get in the way. So even though B-to-B companies have undergone most of the same changes as B-to-C companies, B-to-B companies haven’t had to deal with any drama. It was a much smoother transition, and people’s emotions weren’t stirred up to make any drastic changes in their shopping patterns.
